Dave Resto

Drummer/percussionist Dave Resto has lived in New York, Arizona, and Pennsylvania. In each of those regions, he's performed, taught, and served as a music journalist. For the past several years, he's been keeping time with Built for Speed.

What's your approach to keeping these genres (rockabilly, surf, classic country) interesting and fresh for the band and the audiences?

"I love to imbue the songs we play with the characteristics that make them special - backbeat, shuffle and swing are key elements. The right feel everything."

Do you any favorite venues?

"Jergel's, Crafthouse, the Grand Theater are definitely cool gigs. But I also love playing the wineries, breweries and eateries, many of which offer great dedicated stages. The festival circuit is great, too."

What's the secret to Built for Speed's success?

"Easy. We're dedicated to the music we play, and we trust each other to serve the songs.
We love what we do."

Favorite songs to perform?

"Drive Like Lightning (Crash Like Thunder), Miserlou, anything by Buddy Holly."
